We Believe

A special message is included for you towards the end.

Proleptic Identity

Proleptic Family Church is rooted in the truth of God’s Word. We hold to the essential doctrines of the Christian faith.

Old and New Testament Scriptures

We believe that the inspired and authoritative scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which the church operates and is the basis for which the church is governed. We believe that the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures. (Isaiah 28:13; Nehemiah 8:8; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:3-4 and 1:21)

One Living and True GOD

We believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all things. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8 and 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; Hebrews 1:3).

  • God is omnipotent or all-powerful. (Luke 1:37 and Jeremiah 32:27).
  • God is omnipresent or everywhere all at the same time. (Proverbs 15:3 and Genesis 1:31)
  • God is omniscient or all knowing-Isaiah (40:13-14 and Jeremiah 29:11)
  • God is holy or perfect and sinless. (Psalm 22:37)
  • God is eternal or has no beginning or no end. (Psalm 90:2)
  • God is infinite or has no limits. (Psalm 147:5)
  • God is immutable or never changes. (Malachi 3:6)
  • God created all things. (Genesis 1:1)

God the Father

We believe in the person of God the Father perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalms 90:2; Psalms 102:27; John 3:16 and 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3).

God the Son

We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth. (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-2, 8:58 and 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 1:2; Revelation 1:8).

  • Jesus is the one true mediator between God and us. Meaning we don’t pray to anyone or anything because Jesus fully mediates on our behalf. (1Timothy 2:5).
  • Jesus was born of a Virgin named Mary. (Isaiah 7:14)
  • Jesus died for the sins of the world. (Romans 5:8)
  • Jesus was resurrected. (Matthew 28:6-7 as found in Mark 16:6-7, Luke 24:3-4, John 20:1-3, and 1Cor 15:1-4)
  • Jesus will rapture the all believers up to heaven. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
  • Jesus promised he would send a comforter or the Holy Spirit. (John 14:15-25)

God the Holy Spirit

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; (Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 16:8-11; Romans 8:26 and 15:13,16; Hebrews 9:14). We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 6:13, 14:16-17 and 16:8-11; Romans 8:26). We believe in the Baptism with the Holy Spirit as a distinct and separate experience to that of regeneration, occurring, either subsequent to or simultaneous with salvation, evidenced by a greater dynamic in the Christian’s life enabling that person to be a bold and more effective witness. The supreme evidence of the Spirit filled life is the fruit of the Spirit, love. We believe in the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit in regard to the exercise of all biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the instructions given to us in 1 Corinthians Chapters 12 through 14.

God and the Church

We believe in the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all who are born again are a part of the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:15-16).

The church or church body is not a building. It is a group of people who come to worship and serve the Lord. Believers attend church to be filled with the Word of God to go out and share the Gospel or Good News of Jesus to see lives changed. Believers are servants who willingly serve with their gifts and talents. Non-believers come to be loved and encouraged to know about God and accept Jesus into their hearts.

  • The order of Church Authority is fond in (1 Corinthians 11:23).
  • Church Behavior (1 Timothy 3:15).
  • Deacons and Elders assist the pastor and the church body. (Acts 6:3)

Tithing

We believe giving is a free choice from the heart (Matthew 6:21). All that we are and have belongs to God. We are managers of His resources. (Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-37; 11:27-30). The Bible says to give cheerfully, not grudgingly or under compulsion (2 Corinthians. 9:7). Give according to ability, beyond ability, and sometimes sacrificially. Giving is between you and God, based on His love that He has shown at the cross. God’s grace by giving generously from how God has blessed a person advances the mission of the church body to reach the lost for Jesus.

Baptism

We believe that baptism is full immersion water baptism to identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19). Water baptism is separate from salvation and does not get you to heaven. (1 Corinthians 1:17)

Communion

We believe communion is a special time when believers eat bread and drink juice. Believers should always be reverent and worshipful to remember Christ’s death on the cross. (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Non-believers should carefully examine their hearts before considering taking communion because it is a sacred act of worship and remembrance that requires repentance and confession of sins (1 John 1:9), and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Communion is not a means of salvation.

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 5:22, 18:9 and 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:18; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 14:10-11 and 20:11-15)

Prayer

The Bible gives us an example of how to pray (Matthew 6:9-13). It is important to not to pray the Lord’s prayer repeatedly. Prayer is the power to see things change through direct communication with Jesus anytime anywhere. When we pray to Jesus, we know that He is our mediator between us and God. (1 Timothy 2:5).

Discover Eternal Life

We believe Jesus saves and gives new life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith, trusting in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. At the cross, Jesus Christ died in our place as our substitute, absorbing God’s wrath that should have come upon us. Because Jesus died for the sins of the world the invitation to believe is open to all, and whoever desires and chooses of their own free will may come unto Jesus for new life and the forgiveness of sins. (Romans 3:23, Acts 3:19, Acts 20:21, Ephesians 2:1-3, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 John 2:2, John 3:16, Matthew 11:28, Revelation 22:17).

How do I Change My Life Forever?

No matter where you’ve been or what you have done just know that we all make mistakes. We try but we still mess things up. We disappoint others and ourselves, but it’s not over. A sin is sinner like us who will fall down but we won’t stay there we will get back up again. Here’s the deal God’s plan is so perfect that he gave you and I an opportunity to make our own choices. When we are born, we have a spirit that will live on after we die. If you choose eternal life to be in the presentence of God begin with this prayer. Dear God. Please help me. I can’t live like this any longer. I need you. I admit that I am a sinner and I know that I can’t save myself. I acknowledge that Jesus died for my sins. (Romans 5:8, Romans 3:23). I confess and repent of my sins and want to turn from them. Repentance means that you will make a change in your mind and heart to not do the same sin again allowing you to be more like Jesus. (Acts 3:19).I Confess that you Jesus is personal Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9 & Romans 10:10). From today on I am heading in a new direction. Help me to seek you further each and every day from now on. Change me and strengthen me. Lead me to desire what is good and holy. I know you love me. Use me to share the hope that I have to others… In Jesus Name Amen. When you say Amen, you express confident hope that God will hear and answer according to His will and is essentially a statement of trust in God’s sovereignty and a reflection of submission to His perfect plan for our lives. Congratulations! You can now look forward to Jesus in your life.

What happens next is that God’s Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you and you are saved. He will never leave you (1 Corinthians 3:16). This decision has made your salvation secure in Christ. (Romans 8:35-39, John 10:27-28), with forgiveness of sin by God. (Ephesians 1:7). You now have a relationship with Jesus. Let him change you.

If you received Jesus into your heart, we would like to know so that we can walk with you. Begin by reading the Bible the Word of God, continually pray, and join one of our small groups.
